NAK Access Solutions were brought in by one of our long-term clients as a trusted specialist contractor to deliver a comprehensive external façade cleaning and preparation package at the Leonardo Hotel in Southampton. The works formed part of a wider refurbishment programme, with the building requiring full surface preparation ahead of redecoration and protective finishing works.

The scope of works included jet washing of external brickwork, deep cleaning of rendered façade areas in preparation for paint application, and the careful cleaning of external timber panels prior to varnishing. In addition, the team carried out minor remedial repairs to sections of damaged render, ensuring a sound and consistent substrate ahead of coating application.

Given the building’s height and access constraints, all works were undertaken using specialist rope access techniques. This allowed our operatives to safely and efficiently access all elevations without the need for scaffolding, significantly reducing disruption to hotel operations and maintaining a clean, controlled working environment throughout.

Careful attention was given to each façade material, with cleaning methods adjusted accordingly to avoid damage while achieving the required finish. The minor render repairs were completed seamlessly within the wider programme of works, ensuring a uniform appearance across treated areas and improving the overall integrity of the building envelope.

The results were immediately visible, with a significant transformation in the condition and appearance of the external façade. The before-and-after comparison clearly highlights the effectiveness of the works delivered, restoring the building’s presentation and preparing all surfaces for subsequent painting and finishing stages.
