NAK Access Solutions were appointed by ‘Nano Protech’ to carry out a compliance inspection of roof edge protection (guardrails) at a VITA Student accommodation in Southampton, in preparation for the safe installation of solar panels.

Upon arrival on site, our team conducted an initial assessment and quickly identified that the existing guardrail system did not comply with current safety standards. Following this discovery, we immediately implemented corrective measures, arranging for fall arrest equipment to be delivered to site to ensure all works could continue safely.

With full safety systems in place, the non-compliant guardrails were carefully dismantled, removed, and disposed of in accordance with relevant legislation and environmental guidelines.

Following removal, NAK Access Solutions designed and installed a new compliant edge protection system, consisting of five roof guardrail sections. The new installation was completed in full accordance with the latest British Standards, ensuring a safe working environment for both the solar panel installers and future maintenance personnel.

The project was delivered efficiently, safely, and with minimal disruption to the client, providing a fully compliant access solution ready for ongoing rooftop works.
